La pierre de Carsac, située près des tours et sous la rosace du jardin d’inspiration médiévale est le point de départ des trois sentiers. Vous découvrirez, des vergers et des jardins, le ruisseau du Lampy et son lac, les capitelles ou encore l’abbaye Cistercienne de Villelongue.

The Carsac stone situated close to the towers beneath the garden rosace, of medieval inspiration, is the starting point for three walks. Discover orchards and gardens, the Lampy river and its lake, the « capitelles » or the Cistercian abbey at Villelongue. Enjoy your walk.

L’ABBAYE DE VILLELONGUE. 6 km. 2 h + visite

Le parcours suit l'ancien chemin qui menait du village à l'abbaye, en traversant bois et vignes entre Lampy et de la Vernassonne. L'abbaye de Villelongue, site pôle Pays Cathare, est une des rares a posséder un décor aussi riche. La visite de ses ruines et du magnifique jardin s'impose (visite saisonnière payante). Partant de l'abbaye, une variante du sentier conduit à un four à chaux.

The track follows an ancient path running from the village to the abbey, through woodlands and vines and up onto a plateau that separates the two valleys of Lampy and Vernassonne. Villelongue Abbey, a prime « Cathar Country » site, is one of the rare examples of a highly decorated Cistercian abbey. Don’t hesitate to visit the ruins and its wonderful garden (entry fee). From the abbey, an extension of the walk takes you to the lime oven.

LES CAPITELLES. 6 km. 2 h

Les capitelles sont des constructions de pierre sèche vestiges d’anciennes activités agro-pastorales. Des petits sentiers ombragés, bordés de murets vous y mèneront. Suivez les panneaux.

Capitelles are dry stone constructions which were used mainly as shelters by shepherds. The capitelles are indicated by sign-posts: take the narrow shady tracks lined by low stone walls which will lead you to them.

LES RIVES DU LAMPY. 6 km. 2 h

Partez à la découverte des rives fraîches de la rivière et du plan d'eau. A partir du belvédère devant la mairie (beau panorama), le sentier passe sous la tour de l’horloge et suit le balisage jaune jusqu’à la rivière. Plus loin, le plan d’eau ombragé offre tables de pique nique et court de tennis en accès libre. Baignade et feux interdits. Une variante conduit à un très beau point de vue sur le village et les Pyrénées.

To explore the refreshing river banks and the lake, come back in front of the towers and return down the steps to the village hall. Once there, follow the yellow marking. The walk is shady, with picnic areas and tennis
court. Swimming and fires are forbidden. There is a variation on this walk that leads you to a good vantage point with beautiful views of the village and the Pyrenees.
